The Kusasi ethnic group in the Bawku area has embarked on pouring libation and invoking curses on some security personnel over the murder of a nursing mother last week. The husband of the deceased woman who narrated the murder accused some military personnel in the area of directly opening fire on his innocent wife.
Speaking to the press, a member of the aggrieved Kusasis, Issahaku Karim said they do not have confidence in the military because of what appears to be their personal interest in the conflict.
He accused some of the military personnel of going around to attack innocent residents.
According to him, the military is being one sided, and their continues stay in the area will escalate the situation.
Mr. Issahaku further warned that, whoever has hands in the murder of the woman would not have peace. At the heart of the Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict is an agglomeration of issues about litigations over allodial rights and chieftaincy. Both the Kusasi and the Mamprusi claim allodial ownership of Bawku, claims which are shrouded in their narrative histories of origin and derived from claims of indigenousness.
