YES, it is true that the La Traditional Council has been suspended and will be effectively closed down on 26th September, 2024 pending the installation of a New La Mantse.

The suspension of the La Traditional Council follows many allegations including extortion of monies from prospective land owners through the office of the Administrator of Stool Lands and illegal regularisation of land leases using multiple letterheds signed by persons purporting to be doing so under the directions of the La Traditional Council.
It will be recalled that, the former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Freddy Blay also claimed his son bought the Labadi Beach Hotel Beachfront from the La Traditional Council, which the Supreme Court had ruled had no Capacity to deal in lands.

The members of the La Traditional Council will have to render account of their stewardship to the Registrar before they exit on 26th September, 2024.
All monies from the La Beach [Labome & La Pleasure Beach] being collected by the Ghana Tourist Board will have be fully accounted for before 26th September, 2024.
All La Land transactions from 4th February, 2019 when the La Mantse Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III died till 26th September, 2024 including the Cantonments Civil Aviation Land and transactions of the Lands Committee] will have to be accounted for to the Registrar of the La Traditional Council.
All activities conducted in the name of the La Traditional Council [including the La Homowo and Funeral of the La Mantse] will have to be accounted for by 26th September, 2024.
Indeed there will be an audit of the La Traditional Council, the East La Dadekotopon Development Trust, the Laboma Beach Resort and the Labadi Beach Resort shortly with all monies lodged in a single account pending the installation of a new La Mantse.
As the La Traditional Council members exit office on the 26th September, 2024; it is expected that the Traditional Council office is locked by the Regional House of Chiefs pending the installation of a new La Mantse who reserves the right to relocate the office outside the La Mantse Palace.
