A tragic collision on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Star Oil in Suhum, Eastern Region, has left three Sprinter bus passengers injured and one Okada rider dead. At at 2:30 PM on Monday, June 10, a horrible incident occurred.
A long vehicle truck registered GT6359-24 that was making its way from Accra to Kumasi was involved in the collision. Witnesses said the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle due to an unexpected tire blowout. The vehicle lost control of its steering and went off route, setting off a disastrous chain of events.
An Okada rider was struck by an out-of-control truck and declared dead at the site. Subsequently, the truck struck a Sprinter bus (registration GC 7652-20), injuring three of its occupants. Their injuries required emergency medical attention due to their severity.
Teams of emergency responders showed up on the scene fast to help. The Okada rider’s lifeless body was sent to the mortuary of the Suhum Government Hospital. The wounded travelers were also brought to the same hospital in the interim, where they are presently receiving care. The injured people’s conditions have not yet been made public by hospital officials.
To ascertain the precise reason of the accident, a comprehensive investigation is being carried out by local authorities, including the police. Initial reports indicate that the tire burst was a major contributing cause, but further information is required to fully comprehend the crash’s circumstances.
