Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has emphasized the critical role that the media plays in shaping the narrative of the continent and advancing its development.
Speaking on the opening day of the 3rd African Media Convention, which was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Mr. Dwumfour emphasized the vital roles that journalists play in authentically and devotedly telling the African story.
“The media has tremendous influence over public opinion, legislative decisions, and cultural transformation. It is crucial to acknowledge the vital role journalists play in promoting accountability, transparency, and democracy throughout Africa as we gather here today, the speaker stated.
His remarks emphasized the media’s critical role in educating the public and keeping the powerful accountable.
During the conference, the main topics of conversation were current problems including media ethics, press freedom, and how technology is changing the media landscape.
Mr. Dwumfour’s passionate appeal for African journalists to stand together struck a powerful chord, acting as a call to action for cooperation in promoting the variety of voices and stories on the continent.
