The inaugural Women’s Club World Cup will take place in January and February of 2026, according to FIFA.
FIFA states that the 16-team competition will take place every four years, in between the group stages and the knockout stages of the Women’s Champions League, during the European leagues’ domestic season.
The FIFA congress in Bangkok on Wednesday confirmed the proposals of the world football governing body, which had declared in December 2022 that it intended to establish a worldwide women’s club league.
The current NWSL winners are NY Gotham FC, the current European champions are Barcelona, while the Copa Libertadores Femenina is held by Brazilian team Corinthians.

A date has been announced, but details about the teams’ qualification process and the tournament’s location are still to come.
The congress will now turn its attention to choosing the country that will host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, with Brazil facing off against a combined proposal from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
