The Institute of Energy Security (IES) has demanded that Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh be removed immediately. The main justification for this demand is the worsening energy crisis.
The IES is in favor of the minister’s dismissal because they feel that immediate action is required given the current situation of the energy sector.
The Executive Director of IES, Nana Amoasi VII, voiced disappointment in the minister’s apparent inaction in a Monday appearance on Citi FM.
He questioned the minister’s motivation for taking on such a significant job by drawing attention to his seeming disconnection from the reality of the energy issue.
“Given the current circumstances, in which there is no electrical supply, what function does the minister serve? It’s time for him to step aside, perhaps to focus on other pursuits.
“His responsibilities ought to be terminated. It’s getting too much now. Is asking too much?”
To be honest, I’ve paid for the power that ought to have been given to me as a prepaid customer. Even the placement of the meter, which is really a contractual obligation, has been paid for.
“The very least I anticipate is some notification about when to expect the power if I’m not getting it. But it’s just rude to tell me to choose my own schedule.”
