Stigmatization and prejudice continue to have a detrimental effect on people with mental health illnesses and their families, despite the fact that there have been notable advancements in the field of mental health due to increased awareness.
The government has been pushed to create and enhance evidence-based programs that cater to young people’s mental health needs.
According to Mr. Dan Taylor, Executive Secretary of Mind Freedom Ghana, the government has to prioritize and push for financing to assist the nation’s mental health needs by implementing intentional interventions with the help of national policy makers and program managers.
He asserts that the government has to establish the mental health fund and wrap up discussions about having the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) pay for mental health services across the country.

The Ashanti Regional mental health coordinator Madam Faustina Nuako expressed satisfaction on how mental health education and awareness have improved.
She was also elated the region has facilities and staff dedicated to mental health unlike previously when all these were a challenge.
