MTN’s progress in separating its fiber infrastructure business and expanding its fiber-building efforts in Africa. The group’s recently rebranded infrastructure unit, Bayobab, has acquired the fiber assets of MTN Zambia and added fiber operating licenses in a few markets. MTN is also working on creating a separate fiber unit following the separation of its fintech business. The group aims to reach 135,000km of fiber by 2025 and is investing up to $320m to connect 10 countries by then. The group’s service revenue grew 6.9% to $11.062 million, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (ebitda) was down 0.5% to $4.765 million.
