The President of Ghana has confirmed that that Ghana’s-Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu is hit with COVID-19 and is currently recovering in Hospital.
This follows reports in the media space about the Dormaa Central Legislator’s current state of health and his absence from duty in recent days, suspecting him of contracting the disease and receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
The minister, however, in a MyNewsGh.com report on Saturday, June 13, 2020, debunked the speculations, saying he was only cooling off at the facility and was not sick.
However, in his latest address to the nation on the measures taken against the spread of coronavirus on Sunday night, President Akufo Addo said the Health Minister was “responding to treatment” after contracting the disease while working.
“Let us also wish our hard working minister of health, Hon. Kweku Agyemang-Manu, a speedy recovery from the virus which he contracted in the line of duty. And he is in a stable condition.”
The president also paid tribute to the late Dr. K.K. Sam, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi who succumbed to death on Friday, June 12 through COVID-19.
