Deputy Minister of Energy in charge of Petroleum, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has indicated that Tullow Oil is yet to engage government on the appointment of a new Managing Director after the exit of Mr Kwaku Awotwi.
He explained that the standard practice requires of the company to have discussions with the government before announcing a new MD but that has not yet been done in the case.
“We only have been informed so far about Mr Awotwi’s exit but as to who replaces him the company will usually come and discuss with government.
“We haven’t received any delegation to discuss this so if you are talking about a foreigner taking over that is not known to us because officially we haven’t discussed it,” he told Joy News.
“With the company we will insist that they have discussions won it with government, that is usually the practice,” he added.
Tullow oil had announced in a statement that r Awotwi who is due to retire on June 30 will hand over his responsibilities to Wissam Al Monthiry.
