Former President Jerry John Rawlings has described as cruel police brutalities on black people living in the US.
According to him, the atrocities are evidence to the American populace that it is the cause of its own retrogression.
His comments follow the manhandling of a black native by four Minnesota police officers in the US.
The victim, George Floyd was seen in a viral video being pinned down by his neck while groaning and repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe” to a white officer who had his knee on the suspect’s neck.
Floyd was later reported to have died in police custody.
The former president in a tweet said ”If some of these atrocities, especially from some white police officers against black citizens, cannot shock the American populace to see evidence of their own decline, what can? How can a police officer be the source of such cruel, violent death…”
