Government has ordered Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in some 88 Districts to work closely with traditional leaders in their areas to identify lands for the construction of the proposed 88 Hospitals.
President Nana Akufo-Addo a few weeks back promised to construct 88 District Hospitals and six new regional hospitals to address the inequalities in the nation’s healthcare system.
In May 15, a letter to the various MDCEs sighted by DGN Online, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, tasked the beneficiary metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, to work on acquiring 15 acres land for the construction of the health facilities.
According to the Minister, the collaborative efforts with the traditional leaders for the release of the said acres of land should be completed with all necessary documents prepared by May 31, 2020.
“Hon. Regional Ministers of the selected Districts are entreated to take personal interest in facilitating the smooth take-off of this very important initiative,” she urged.
