NPP puts Nana Akufo-Addo’s fate in the hands of Peter Mac Manu
As part of efforts for the ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) to retain its presidential seat, it has appointed former National Chairman of the party, Peter Mac Manu as the Campaign Manager for the 2020 general elections.
Mr Mac Manu who is currently the Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority held the same office in 2016.
This was disclosed to the media by the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu.
According to him, the party would never cast lot with their “winning team,” saying, “we are not changing the winning team; Mac Manu will lead our campaign team and when the full list comes out, it is going to be solid.”
He observed that Mr Mc Manu’s contributions and efforts as a campaign manager brought the party into power, thus the decision to retain him for this year’s campaign.
He posited that Minister of Zongo and Inner City Development, Dr. Mustapha Hamid and Director of Operations at the Presidency, Lord Oblitey Commey would be his Deputy.
The General Secretary of the party John Boadu would for the second time head Campaign Logistics and Operation, with Sammi Awuku, National Organiser as his deputy.
In an earlier interview, some of the executives within the party said they were supposed to hold national delegates conference on May 2, to officially launch Campaign and teams who would Frontline the party to another victory.
That the source bemoaned was postponed indefinitely due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, adding that plans were far advanced to launch the campaign.
