Charterhouse, the organization behind the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), has announced Telecel Ghana as the new category sponsor for the Music for Good award for the 2019 edition of the ceremony.
The honorary award aims to celebrate and promote performers that have a social influence in addition to their musical endeavors.
As part of its continuing transformation to the Telecel Ghana Awards, the award scheme is introducing several rebranding initiatives, one of which is the merging of the Green Award with the Music for Good award.
The winner of the Music for Good award will be revealed and receive a recognition plaque and a ¢20,000 check for their impact initiative at the TGMAs big finale on Saturday, June 1.
A musician who released a song in the year under review and significantly aided in the advancement of a social cause—such as youth mentorship, health, education, economic empowerment, social development, or environmental initiatives—will be recognized with the Music for Good award.
The Green Award and the Music for Good award were merged in an attempt to draw attention to the larger social impact that musicians have on their local communities.
The Music for Good award will highlight musicians who have made a real difference with their notoriety and influence.
