As part of the 2022 World Cup Legacy initiative, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) has received equipment provided by Qatar.
Additionally, the gesture is in favor of Ghana’s successful organization and hosting of the just concluded 13th African Games, Accra 2023.
Office desks, task chairs, swivel seats, media working tables, HP laptops, and Samsung cell phones were among the equipment.
During the presenting ceremony, Mohammed Hamad Al Marri, the Charge d’affaires of the Qatari Embassy, emphasized the importance of fortifying the relationship between the two nations and pledged to maintain the excellent cooperation.
He stated that sports were important for national, regional, and global growth and that Qatar was very interested in these areas as well as other areas.
Additionally, he disclosed that the donation would support the development of sporting facilities, particularly those related to the planning and hosting of the African Games.
The Charge d’affaires of the Qatari Embassy expressed gratitude to Ghana for organizing a triumphant event and expressed hopes for more advancement and prosperity in the field of sports development.
After accepting the equipment, Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, thanked the Emir of Qatar, the Minister of Culture and Sports of Qatar, and other important figures for their generous donation of various pieces of equipment to Ghana.
He said that the donation was evidence of the mutually beneficial and enduring connection that existed between Ghana and Qatar.
The Minister went on to say that he had presented the Qataris with a plan to further their cooperation with Ghana and launch the Ghana-Qatar Legacy Project, which would contribute to the development of Ghana’s sporting facilities.
