President Akufo-Addo appointed Joseph Abuabu Dadzie as the new CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), and he began work today.
Opoku-Ahweeneh Danquah, whose tenure of office expired on April 26, 2024, is replaced by him.
Mr. Dadzie was the GNPC’s Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Business Development, Strategy, and Commerce prior to his appointment.
Prior to this, from June 2017 to August 2020, he served as the Corporation’s General Manager, Commercial.
With over 25 years of experience at various executive and senior management levels in five different organizations covering the energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, and banking sectors, Mr. Dadzie is an accomplished financial and management executive.
His experience in the sector spans a wide range of areas, including strategic planning, corporate management, finance, governance, and leadership.
He held the positions of Chief Operating/Finance Officer at Surfline Communications Limited from April 2013 to August 2015 and Chief Finance Officer at Woodfields Energy Resources from September 2008 to March 2013.

He was employed with Standard Chartered Bank from 2003 to 2008 in the following roles: Head of Large Corporates & Parastatals, Director of Commodity Corporations, and Senior Manager (Financial Institutions).
Mr. Dadzie has held positions on the boards of four financial services, energy, and banking organizations.
His global experience encompasses working attachments at the UBS Trading floor (Stamford, Connecticut, USA), Societe Generale (Paris la Defense), Total Petroleum Services (London and Paris la Defense), Codi International BV (Netherlands), and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).
Mr. Dadzie graduated from Nyenrode Business Universiteit, Breukelen, Netherlands, with a Master of Science in General Management and a Master of Business Administration (Finance).
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology is where he also obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemical Engineering.
