A timely intervention of the security detail at the residency of the Bono regional minister in sunyani, prevented an attack on the NPP constituency chairman Mr Musah Damtar and two others and who would have been murdered in cold blood at gunpoint by three well known followers of the incumbent member of parliament for sunyani east Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh. The incident happened at about 12am Saturday morning.
Chairman Damtar ( whose name means God is with me in moar language) and two others, were returning from his residency in Sunyani, when lawyer Asare Atua, Asoma Salia popularly called Tupac and one other person holding short guns and other offensive weapons suddenly emerged from a parked vehicle heading towards them and threatened to “finish them” .
Chairman Damtar and his two other companions continuous cry for help, attracted the security guards at the residency of the Bono regional minister, who came to their rescue and took them to their homes only to realize another set of assailants were waiting to attack them. The police eventually appeared on the scene , took control of the situation and escorted them to the station for safety and protection. lawyer Asare Atua and Tupac are reported well known followers of the incumbent MP for sunyani east, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh.
There is a huge suspicion, they may be trailing suspected opponents of the incumbent MP , in the NPP primaries in the Sunyani area scheduled to begin today. In a telephone conversation with nownews Ghana on Saturday morning, Mr Damtar said he noticed at about 8PM Friday night, a particular vehicle was trailing them. He quickly rushed to make a police report . He said at the time of making the report, he noticed the vehicle carrying the assailants had parked not far from the police headquartes in Sunyani.
“At about 8pm and in fact also around 12midnight, i was seeing trails of car lights following me. they followed me to the police headquarters and parked in front of the police station” but as a leader of the party i intend to do my work, so i will be visiting the voting centres to observe what is going on” As i am speaking to you now, i have taken my popular shuure soup( green leaf soup) to boost my energy levels healthy reasons.
