As part of efforts to help curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus in the country, Republic Bank Ghana, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited, has made a GHS200,000.00 donation towards the construction of a 100-bed COVID-19 Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Centre.
According to the Bank, the gesture is part of efforts to support the building of several medical facilities across the country.
The COVID-19 Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Centre located at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, Kwabenya, is being funded through the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund.
Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, Mr. Farid Antar, lauded the initiators and trustees of the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund for the great initiative and work done so far.
He stated that, “If we had known the existence of this fund earlier, maybe we could have allocated more to this project out of the GH1.1 million budget we had towards the COVID-19 intervention in Ghana.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund, Chairman of the Trustees, Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, thanked Republic Bank for the kind gesture.
“I believe the Ghanaian public appreciates what you do for the society apart from banking; your person to person relationship and your involvement in important events in this country. We see the role of Republic Bank in the everyday life of our nation and we are grateful,” he said.
Other trustees of the Fund, including, Mr. Edward Effah, Mr. Senyo Hosi and Mr. Kwaku Bediako, also took their turns to appreciate Republic Bank for the kind gesture.
In March this year, the Republic Financial Holdings Limited announced as part of its power to make a difference initiative, a $2million contribution towards the fight against COVID-19 across 13 territories in which the Bank operates.
